Our Vision

The primary focus of Way of the Bow is to calmly revive the traditional heritage of Dhanurvidya, where people can celebrate and acknowledge the roots and principles that come in respect with the bow. The green plantations of Nedumangad set the mood for a tranquil experience where the event brings together practitioners, visitors, and newcomers from every corner of the world.

Way of the Bow's ultimate vision is to transcend the experience of Dhanurvidya in a way where archery traditions can inculcate their own place in the new world where people revive, celebrate, and share the ancient tradition with generations to come.

The Docu-Series

Way of the Bow is also the title of an upcoming documentary series exploring the world of traditional archery in India. The series will chronicle the living masters who preserve ancient bow-making traditions, explores the connection between archery and spiritual practice, documents the revival of traditional archery communities across India and shares the stories of practitioners who have dedicated their lives to this art.

Why Nedumangad?

Nestled in the foothills of the Western Ghats, Nedumangad is a place that leaves an impression long before any event begins. Surrounded by rubber plantations and patches of tropical forest, it carries a quite charm that is becoming increasingly rare to find. The calmness of the landscape, the shade of the trees, and the gentle sounds of nature make it a place worth visiting in its own right.

While the region’s connection to Kalarippayattu, Kerala’s ancient martial art, gives it a natural association with traditional archery, the beauty of the venue stands apart from the activities hosted there. There is a certain stillness to the place that encourages one to slow down, take in the surroundings and appreciate the simple experience of being amidst nature. It is this peaceful character of Nedumangad, as much as the event itself, that makes the experience memorable.
